Default XP: Crank oil seal will NOT come out.

I've tried using a screw, punch, anything I could think of but I am just shredding and putting holes in it. I've tried to deform it with a screwdriver and punch in order to get a piece of it bu nothing works.

I'm at my wits end on this one. I have never seen a seal so difficult to come out.

Any other suggestions?

Burn it out with a map gas torch (remove the remains in little pieces), or take the oil pan off so you can get the oil pump off and work on it on the bench.

If I need to pull the oil pump, must the oil pan come out?

Yes, oil pan bolts to it.

not fully out - but you do have to undo the front bolts and it helps to lower it a bit (not completly necessary - but it makes lif alot eaiser when you put teh pump back).

So I managed to get it out. Unfortunately, I managed to score the oil pump housing area around the seal. The scored area is at the forward most section so I think that it can still seal well. I'm debating weather I should just replace the oil pump housing anyway as I would hate to reasemble this and have it leak.
