Default 200 mph transmission

I think it has been said that with the correct motor the 944na 5th gear should allow for 200mph.

Would it be possible to replace the first 5 gears of the 968 6 speed transmission with gears from a 951 and the 6th gear with the 5th gear from a 944na?

Not that I'm planning anything, just an idea I was curious about.

I don't think it's possible. I think the 968 transmission is a completly different platform than the 944/951 transmission.

In theory:

w/ a 245/45/16 rear tire

a trans with a 3.375 R/P (turbo) and a 0.730 5th gear (944 n/a) would be around 194 mph at 6500 rpm.

an S2 .778 5th would carry 182 mph.

If you use a 275/40/17 rear tire, that would be 201mph with the .730 5th.

I dont know the 968 R/P ratio offhand.

I would be very doubtful that many/any of the 944 series components are interchangeable with the 968 trans.

Some sources have stated that S/S2/Turbo components are Not interchangeable with 944 n/a transmissions. For instance, Kevin Gross (who has some reputation here for transmission work and expertise) told me at one point, that n/a 3rd and 4th gears were not interchangeable into my 944S transmission, because they were narrower (and therefore also weaker) than the S/S2/Turbo gear sets. I am not certain that also pertains to the 5th gear set.

Danno has all the gear ratios listed on his sight.
