Don't you have this same turbo? Why not just have yours rebuilt?

If you're refering to me, I believe my turbo is beyond a rebuild. The housing is scraped, the cool side fins are bent, and the hot side are broken. There's a half inch of play in the shaft. I don't know if there's anything salvageable for a rebuild. I am going to take it the Durabilt in Bradley to see what they say.

Wowza Michelle. How on earth does all that happen to a turbo?

Good question. I bought it already on the engine on my car. After rebuilding the engine (it was an Anderson built engine) I drove the car to 944Fest w/o any boost to break everything in. First time I took the car out after the break-in it smoked like crazy. I took it apart and that's what I found (turbo). I'm a bit baffled myself as the PO said the engine had 0 miles on it.

Well that sucks. Let me know before you toss it. I may take it. I've always wanted to take one apart to play with.
