Anders, I have to disagree on your weight distribution point. I agree that 50/50 isn't the best (and most of our cars aren't even fully 50/50..), but 35/65 is plain dumb without a LOT of power and a LOT of driver still to keep the *** planted in turns. The changes that are required in the racing line and driving habits all but completely toss out braking while entering a turn and change your entry speed a lot. Also, the test between the 951 and 930 didn't have the cars dialed in for heavy understeer... it was Derek Bell driving, I'd think they would give him the benefit of the doubt when it comes to his driving competency. I personally think the test was VERY valid, seeing as common knowledge shows the 930's bias from the factory and the fact that it lost the test to a bone-stock 951S.
RKD, the boxster doesn't have 35% of it's weight in the front... in fact, neither do the 911s. IIRC, the most rear-biased 911's were the early 930's which had (if my memory serves me) 37% of the weight up front. If anyone remembers differently, please chime in.
Personally, I'd love to lighten up the front of my 951 and take off some weight to balance it out a little more. I think the best distribution to have is right around 45/55 from what I've experienced.

How would my 951, with the following modifications, compare to the Cayman S in acceleration? I believe my car is running close to 400hp. Not sure of the torque though, but it has to be higher than the 250lbs of torque for the Cayman S.

The Cayman S...
"The KaymanS handling is light years ahead of the 951. However, a bit of modifications and the 951 will destroy it as well."
I would not say it's light years ahead, although they say it's the world's best handling sports car, it does 0.96 g's, the stock 951 did 0.90 twenty years ago, put some good tires on it today and it will probably match that figure, specially if you're talking about the M030 suspension and 17"wheels, the cayman S has 48/52 front/rear weight distribution, so it does not even match the perfect 50/50 of the 951...

I have other engine mods. Autothority MAF, K&N Filter, Autothority Chips, Banjo Bolt 1.1bar boost, Powerhouse race prepped head - ported polished, titaniam valves and springs, and the K27-8 turbo.

One of the things I see affecting your performance is the stock wastegate, because it bleeds. You need to get a tial 38 or 46mm and dyno your car.

Burning Brakes
Just to add another poorly informed opinion to the brew, I'll make the following $5 bet:
The guy who bought an '86 951 for $2,100 (and posted here a few days ago) could modify his car for a total outlay of ~$10,000, and then probably beat a brand new Cayman in a road race. Exponentially more bang for the buck with the ~20 year old car.

The KaymanS handling is light years ahead of the 951. However, a bit of modifications and the 951 will destroy it as well.
Both Boxster and Kayman are easier to drive!
Would I trade my 951 for a Boxster or a Kayman? NO. I'll just get a Boxster and install a 3.8L in it and have fun.. (forced induction comes to mind though ).
