Default Dyno Gain 2.5" to 3" exhaust

Just installed a lindsey 3" exhaust (no cat) with magnaflow muffler on a freinds 88 951. The car had a stock exhaust with a gutted cat. Tomorrow evening we are going to throw it on the dyno and see what kind of gains we get. IIRC our baseline is 209hp at the rear wheels, but I will have to check tomorrow for sure.

Anyone want to make a guess as to what we will gain? I wish he would not have had a gutted cat, and a fully stock setup, but I guess we will go with what we got. 10, 15, 20hp?

This is not the best way to look at the gain. Overlay both dyno charts, HP & TQ then compare. Peak numbers are useless.

Can you make it clear what you installed on his car. Just the cat back or a 3" cat bypass and cat back. If it's just a cat back I don't think you will see much gain if any. With the "3 inch cat bypass you might see gains in the 20rwhp range depending on how collapsed the pipe has become over time.

3" full exhaust.

And john is right, we will overlay the baseline and post curves and see what they look like.

I would guess that looking at the curves we will see power come on quicker, and the gains will probably not be all that significant..

I agree Doc, I think you will see the power come on a little more quickly.
