LR dual port wastegate question
I'm having a terrible time removing the old wastegate from the car. The 2 bolts holding the wastegate to the TT are a pain in the butt, and I've only gotten one of them out. When I eventually get the second out, how do I put them back in? Do I really even need them?

My WG mounting bracket was only attached by one bolt to the TT. It was a real pain and required a lot of effort.
Are you, by chance, refering to the two bolts holding the WG to the bracket?
I'm not sure how necessary the bracket is with the Lindsey. I would say to use if it's at all reasonable to reinstall as it will take som weight off the exhaust bolts.

I chose to remove the bracket mounting bolt which is at the TT (lower right as you are looking at it) and then removed the bracket when I had the WG out. It took a fair bit of penetrant and a couple of swivel sockets to get in there.

Greg, I'm not running them on my car. No issues yet, but I have a tial gate which I assume is slightly lighter than the lindsey one. (And stop by the house if you get a chance after work next week. I've been out in the driveway working on the car everyday this week!)

The bolts aren't that bad to get to if:
1) You have the right combination of socket extensions.
2) You raise the car up high enough to get some decent room to work.
I've done this a good number of times now, and found that its WAY harder to do it on jack stands with limited room. Once I got a lift, it became much easier to do (um, sorry if that sounds like bragging, but it really does make a big difference).
I've never heard of anyone having an exhaust failure because they didn't reattach that bracket, but I sure like how much more secure the wastegate feels with it on there.

I didnt reattach mine either. I used a opened end with the rachet combo rench up there. Squeeze in there and should be be able to get it.

When I upgraded to the LR DP (with the help of sh944 and his lift ) I chose to re-attach to the TT bracket. Although I really don't think it was absolutely necessary Porsche did put it there for a reason. It may seem like it was a bit "over engineered" but you know what they say about an ounce of prevention.

top bolt is off, the bottom bolt is just spinning right now. i *think* it's backed all the way out of the threaded portion, but the darn thing still won't budge. i'll try to back it out some more this morning, but yes, sitting on jacks has to be way harder than a lift. stupid low ceiling garage...

*UPDATE*
Got the 2nd bolt out of the TT bracket, turns out the nut on the back side had broken off and the bolt/nut was just spinning. A few more extensions and universals later, and the bolt is out.
Now...
What do I pry on to remove the wastegate/dumptube/short elbow piece from the car? Do I slide everything towards the front of the car or do I push the dump tube further into the exhaust (towards the back of the car)? Why do I pry on and against to move this sucker out?

Sorry Greg, that's all the advice I've got, I haven't done that chore as of yet. Good luck!
