Any mechanical boost gauge will be far more accurate than the stock electrical one. I've used a $30 VDO for years, I just like it to closely match the rest of the gauges. I bought an Autometer for my Mini that was a little more expensive. I bought both at egauges.com, they have good selection and prices...
Electrical boost gauges are far superior to mechanical ones. The problem is they cost a lot. I have seen differences of over 3 psi offset on mechanicals. Even when there zeroed in perfect.
The autometer one works fine but doesn't really match the rest of the gauges. i had one but then went with a VDO one. I did it for the same reasons Andy did.
