Default buying 89 turbo s

I am looking at a Black on Black 89 Turbo S. The previous owner was a Rennlister. It is super clean and has plenty of mods. 79K miles. $wise where are these cars selling currently?
Thanks for any input

People tend to ask $16 to $19k for low mile 89's in great shape. If you got it in the mid to low end of that range, you'd be pretty close to my sense of "market value" -- at least in California. It should have records and pass rigorous PPI without material problems for that price however. Bruce Anderson and Excellence magazine would probably come out a bit lower, even after adding 10% for low miles.

Those are pretty low miles but without knowing the specific mods and additional details such as mechanical condition, wheels, etc its hard to give you an exact number. Run the VIN thru Carfax, confirm the mileage is real, look at the car's history and get a PPI.

I see you're in Houston. Is it local?

Yes, it is local. Its the black one at Summit Imports. B951S was the rennlisters name who owned it before. Carfax came up with no wrecks, car looks really clean.
Thanks

Ok, yeah he did quite a bit to that car. Hard to say what value they'd put in it.

There was an '86 locally that had a powerhaus 2.8L w/Motec, verified 400 rwhp, and the guy finally sold it for $12K. It was very clean, and looked stock when the hood was down.

If Summit has it, I'd guess they want mid to high teens?

What should it be worth to you? I guess only you can answer that. If you get it, I'll buy you a beer so I can see it.

looks like as nice car, i made then a 15k offer but their last price was 18k.
not sure if i want to pay that much for a 944 turbo, i think 15k is the max unless its a super low mileage unmodded 89 turbo.
does anyone know what turbo that car is running if not stock?/
thanks

I think it has a T04E in it.

As an owner of an '88 Turbo S, I feel the exact same way! Well, almost... I refrained from saying anything until after your post.

I suspect typical street mods like MAFs and big turbos probably lower the value of an otherwise pristine 89 951.

I just picked up a stock 89 951 with 200,000 miles for $6200 here in San Diego. Although from what I hear I got a good deal and it has a lot of little problems.

cracked header, leaky p/s, leaking fuel line, ripped ball joint boots, broken sunroof clip, etc etc

The owner didn't know anything about cars really, so I suspect he just looked up the blue book price or something.
