There's one on ebay, $225 at present. Cylinders look good, the outside looks like it was in a high moisture area.

Thanks SKi ,

I had my eye on it but backed out wanted a block I could be sure of ?
contacted 944 Online they gave mw a quote of 1k for what I wanted just waiting for pictures.
Wondered if the guy's could beat the 1k price if they knew someone had cash in hand?

thanks again,

It might interest you that 944Ecology would not even consider an offer unless it started at 2k..

With the prices starting to climb for a good used block I suggest you change your oil every 2 thousand miles to insure it lasts...

lol. Good advice. You are talking 2k for JUST a good block? If so, that is scary.

Its true, they are getting expensive as we keep ruining them in the turbos. I would not expect the price to stop climbing anytime soon.

I don't know who got the e/bay block however I passed on it just did not like the look of it.

My luck so far in finding a good used block sucks.
944online quoted me a price of 1k when I asked for pictures all of a sudden all 3 of the so called good blocks they had where all sold to one guy! Talk about BS!

So I called PartsHeaven about an hour from me they tell me "yeah we have a good turbo block no scoring for $450" So I rush up there and find out it's a S2 block. Bores looked OK but they did not have any why to properly measure them. So I passed...

Now I am looking at the Nikasil process. Two company's are supposed leaders in the field both have the about the same pricing around $800 for a 944 block.

One U.S. Chrome has reputedly the originator has completed 1 million cylinders and has a PHD on staff but only offers a ONE YEAR warranty.

The other one Millennium Technologies has a LIFETIME warranty and
has the guy who wrote an article describing the process and is being recommended by EBS Racing.

I am leaning toward Millenniun EBS swears by them and I am big on long term warranties...

You do have other options:

You can still get Mahle 100.5 pistons, last month, there was 1 set in Atlanta and 12 in Germany but that's it - $1600/set, plus bore and finish your engine. There might be another option with Mahle shortly but too early to tell, with Ferroprint iron coating.

LR has been experimenting with different things, give them a call.

Tom C pistons in 100.5 or 101mm. $1195/set - some don't like his coating but we've had them in the track car for 2 years and all good, installed in two other cars, all doing great and one is a DD.
