Default A/F Ratio gauge install (1st post)

My first post.. ive been a regular over at pelican for about a year now, thought that i would finally join here as well, anyways to the point..

i recently bought a a/f ratio gauge.. and well, you guessed it, i have no idea how to install it, yeah i know the simple stuff about getting power to it, etc, but where do i run the other wires? someone said something to me about soldering it to the dme pins, question is, which wires go to which pins?

thanks, looking forward to some helpful info here on rennlist. i dont know why it took me so long to join..

you have to be a member (red letters under your name) to have a signature.

I will assime that its an " autometer" type gauge and not a wide band sensor.

According to the manual it would be pin 24 on the DME for a 84 944. its a sheilded wire which means that you have to solder it to the wire in the middle of the sheild, NOT easy.
What I suggest is that you splice into the wire that comes from the O2 sensor in the engine compartment. Once you expose the 3 wires under plastic covering ( behind the connector plug) you will tap into the black wire, the two white ones are used to heat the sensor, the black is the sensor signal.

I don't think you have to be a member to edit your signature? Theres a tab under "Quick Links" for that.

Yes pin number 24, im about to do this myself, I believe there is a green covering that you have to get under to actually expose the wire itself! Good luck

Don't try to cut the shielded cable to get access to the O2 sensor wire inside. You can tap into the wire pretty easily at the DME plug itself where the wire comes out of the shield and goes to pin 24 on the plug.
