K27/6
i am putting a k27/6 in my car next week. I thought i saw a thread on the install of the turbo. I no on the cold side i need to make some changes to adapt it to my car. does anyone have pics or can tell me what i have to do to install the turbo on my car. Thanks for the help. John.
PS . a recomendation on where to get the parts to adapt it also would be great to .

Hi JBrown,
The K27 side fits nicely without any major mods. You'll need to bend the waterpipe a bit to get it to fit around the larger compressor, that will be fairly obvious once you get it in the car and start to line things up. It's not a big bend, more like a repositioning.
I also needed to remove the vacuum port on the bottom of the throttle body. That line runs to the thermovalve, which is part of the fuel vapor purge system. For now I have that line tee'd in with the other vacuum lines although I'm considering deleting the whole vapor purge system.
Some have also recommended going with a lower profile thermostat for the turbo water pump. I did install this piece but I'm not convinced that I needed to. I bought it at NAPA Part #: ECHFS158, I think it was ~$45.

Danny - Yes, Vitesse chipboard tuned for K27/6 with 55# injectors with Vitesse MAF. I have not had the car at the dyno yet so I don't have #'s for you. I'm hoping for 290-300rwhp based on what I've seen from others with this setup. I'm running at 16psi (but at 5,000ft altitude), Vitesse recommends 15psi for pump gas. Oh, and this setup needs a 3bar fuel pressure regulator.
Subjective impressions: I had Guru 18psi chips w/Reliaboost and Guru WG on my K26/6 previously. It was pretty soft off boost, hit hard at about 2700 rpms and then boost tapered off to 12 psi or so by redline. The K27/6 witht the MAF is MUCH more responsive off boost...it feels like a real car! Boost hits maybe 100-200rpm later than the K26/6 and then holds 16psi all the way to redline. It's, uh, fast. So fast that I'm having a hard time finding a place I can really let it stretch it's legs and do some testing. This is a nice problem to have

The 27 cold side is bigger than the stock j boot. I got an adaptor from a tuner that I was supposed to be able to cut off some of the jboot and stick this adapter into the cut end of the jboot. I had to cut so much of the jboot to make it work that I woould have lost all the ports that are on the jboot. It wouldn't work. If you are using a maf with a maf pipe this is not a problem. I found a welder and had a piece of 2.75" exhaust tubing cut with ports welded to it which I could insert into the jboot. I had to cut back the jboot to right before the diverter valve port and insert the pipe. I just picked up a maf with a maf pipe and I am doing some other work to my car so I may not need this.

Does KKK make a bigger EX: K28 or K29 that can be fitted with a hot side of 6 while keeping the water cooled and oil cooled? I think some 911's have the K28 or K29. I know, just thought I would think what other thought of that. What would be some good things from that large of a coldside, and what are some cons of that larger of a compressor?

Not that TonyG needs an endorsement, as he probabaly has as much experience with the K27/6 as anyone, but I second it. I have a K27/6 7200 and it's plenty quick for me. I have no problem breaking the 265's loose in first and second.
Of course...if I could scrape together a couple of grand I would be having a hard look at Vitesse goodies.
