Default Schnell Short Shifter Install Question

Well I just received the Schnell kit and looking at it closely I’m a little confused. There are no threads (it’s kinda counter-sunk) on the hole labeled “A” on the directions, on the shift rod (the rod on the kit that goes towards the front of the car). Is this normal? I’m a little concerned because they make it a point to safety wire this bolt from the factory. Are the threads in the shifter shaft (the part that attaches to the shifter) instead?

Sorry to have to ask but I would hate to drive 35 miles to where my car is stored to do the install only to discover I have “issues”.

TIA

there are no threads, just a hole where the bolt engages. When you take it apart you will see a bolt with about a 3/16 inch long point on it. It will make sense once you get it apart. In short, this is normal, install it already! Just got mine in and I love the way it shifts now....

Thanks for the info Jeff,

I just had a bad week with 2 other products I received for the car having issues & needing to be returned. I figured this one too was going to be part of my bad luck run. Glad to hear otherwise.

The shift rod from the front is threaded IIRC. I think it would be worthwhile to wire it up anyway, I will be on mine.

Don't loose that bolt, its a PITA to find anywhere but the dealer

Is this the short shift off of ebay? Costs ~$110 ? Once you get it in, post up what you feel bout it!

Yeah it was the one from ebay, it was $99 buy it now + shipping. I suspected it was a vertex listing (one of our sponsors) even though it had some other user name. It was.

I was hoping to install it this W/E but looks like the doo-doo is going to hit the fan at work so it might be a while before I can get to it. There is another recent thread about them, quite a few people have installed them & really seem to like them.
