Fender liner trap door
The plastic fender liners in our cars have a small trap door molded into the concave shape in front of the wheel.
What is the purpose of this?

Allows access to the side marker lights, and also to the bolts securing the bumper cover to the body.

Thanks, that makes sense.
I was hoping to use this hole to vent cooling air from the oil cooler, intercooler, etc., and wonder if anybody has tried it.

Mine are sitting in a back room in my barn. Havent had them on in a few years. If I was still driving it in the winter they would be on though.

There is a hole where the original air box was, that is probably a better inlet. That's why the original box was there.

Yup, you will crack the paint on your fenders from rocks getting kicked up.

Not to mention they keep all the crud out of impossible-to-clean places.
