You can have a k26/6 converted to a k27/6 for around $600. You will find plenty of opinions on here on the k27/6. Like everything else here there is plenty who say no and plenty who say yes. I said yes last year and am happy with it. Search here and read everything. Look for TonyG on here. he knows plenty about this turbo. Its a great turbo. Again its all about what do you want to get from it. Mine doesn't run out of steam at 18 psi. Thats why i got it. the 26/6 runs out of steam because the 26 ( compressor side ) can't flow enough air in the top end. Some are of the opnion the 6 turbine side creates too much back pressure at higher boost and rpms. I like mine. Like I said. search here and read everything and make a decision on your on. its bolt up with no modification needed to the exhaust or flanges. People say its good for the street. The k26/6 is good for the street. You can't use the full potential of the k27/6 on the street with all the other idiots driving out there. I track my car at its a blast. My $0.02!

General consensus seems to be that the K27/8 is capable of an extra 15-20 HP on the high end, at the expense of 2-300rpm in spool up. My car is primarily street driven with a few DE's a year so I decided spool up was more important to me than high end HP, but to each his own.
As the others have said, you'll need chips and maybe bigger injectors (and ideally a MAF).
Search for 'K27/6 Tony G' for lots of discussion on this topic.

For all the same reasons, I too went with the K27/6-7200
So call me an oldschool retro grouch.
mike1982......You're only 2 hrs from me, If you ever get out this way
I'll take you for a ride in a K27/6-369rwhp car.
Maybe meet up at BeaverRun, it's a very nice facility.
jet951......good luck with the install.....you will be very happy with
your purchase. Vitesse chips/smt6/maf are a MUST!!!

I have a 27/8 that I'm going to send in for conversion to a 27/6.
Does ayone know how much, if any, the fuel needs to be tweaked from a k26/6 setup with stock injectors to a k27/6 with 55# injectors? I'd imagine that the mixture needs leaning while off boost, but enriched when on boost. Any thoughts or experience?

I'm happy with my 27/6.........but I think its too difficult to say simply that the 27/8 is better than the 27/6 or vice versa since it really seems to depend on the setup of your car (mods) and what you expect from it. For me it was all about the early spool up since its a street car and I hardly ever (maybe I never really have) had it at the limit. I dont need the extra horsepower on the top end since I hardly ever see that top end. But then with the 2.8L I already have a few extra HP over stock. I wish someone else had the same set up as me with a 27/8 so I could feel the difference and know if I'm missing out........but for now I'm happy.
