Aren't new Pistons from Porsche around $1000 or so? I remember getting a quote back when I was rebuilding my old 944 Turbo engine.

Well, Andial has 2.8L set for $1695, Heritage has 968 turbo pistons but no price on the web site. Konstatin had mentioned sometime ago about being able to get Alusil sleeves but he never said how much. I'll try Sunset this week and just see what a set of 101's would cost, if they're even around but I doubt it, as several people in the past looked. We have used the Tom C pistons with great success, installed in three cars and all are doing great, as our track car is on it's third year, but some people don't want to rely on a new coating or have the time or funds to try and would much rather have OEM if available, with the iron coating which we all know is very alusil friendly.

I called sunset for a set of 100.5's, and they could only get me a set in tolerance group 1 (there was 1 or 2 tolerance group 0's, and 3 tolerance group 2's available as well), at a price of well over $300/each.
I forget the exact numbers, but by the time shipping and the exchange rate were figured in, it would cost me $1850CDN to get a set to my door.
They can't get 101's without a part number which I could not locate.

I think about 90% of us would like to stay with OEM-style pistons before going to new coatings or piston materials.

here is the info on the ring pack:

The ring pack will be slightly different, using a 1.2mm, 1.5mm and 2mm set, versus the stock 1.5mm, 1.75mm and 3mm - these are Alusil acceptable.

Seems like you'd be better off building the pistons to use the off-the-shelf Porsche rings. Is it a cost thing?

I don't know but I'll ask when I talk to them Wed. It may be that they have these rings or material are already in stock but I'll see if they can be made to the original spec; wonder if it's a Mahle/KS thing not to be exact?

Are there 8 people who are ready for this, committ to it with funds - there seem to be a demand for more 101mm so I would guess some people have some blocks that need some cleaning up. If the vendor in TX doesn't have time to put this all togther, then JAB Racing LLC will. Let me know who's ready, price would be $1225/set with rings and wrist pin. From MAHLE receipt of the order, 6 - 8 weeks for delivery.

today - my 100.5 is being scanned, wrist pin double checked, wrist pin center to crank center, cc volume, skirt to top, etc - should have word in a couple of days of final pricing. Estimate for first delivery is 60 days after order - seems like we have 2 confirmed, need 4 more for the order and JAB Racing will pick up the rest of the cost. It seems 101mm is everyone's choice - pm me if you are READY - cash in hand.

Web site is in the works, as is heat shield over exhaust manifolds that attaches to cam tower, maybe possible copper head gasket offered.
