Try calling him. He is usually at his dyno room, which is different than his office phone number.

I don't know the number but I think his answer machine tells you that number.

You did the right thing by calling John Milledge.

And you can make a ton of power on stock valves.

I made 401RWHP using a JME head/cam with stock valves on a 2.5L at 17psi (415RWHP at 18psi)... with other modifications.

Something to note... installing larger valves only to have them packed up against the combustion chamber wall is like taking 2 steps forward, and 1 step back. The valves become shrouded big time, killing a lot of the benefit of the larger valves....

But... on a larger bore engine (104mm-106mm), you can really take advantage of the larger valves since you can open up the combustion chambers to unshroud the valves.... which is one big benefit of doing a large bore engine.

your all too damn keen to spend get the NA cam i found it a great uprade my car makes heaps more torque at preboost and any boost and its definatly the ultimate cam if you have a moddest turbo i would say the NA cam is the best cam up to 430hp it cost bugger all so you can spend your money on big exhuast and fancy turbos wich are a proven thing . there are drawbacks to massive cams no drawbacks to massive exhuasts .

You are right about that. I have a converted NA that I used the cam from and it was faster than the stock turbo according to other turbo owners. More exhaust lift so breaths better is the mantra

There is 1mm more lift (exhaust side). I suppose that 1mm does not make that much difference. More important is cam lobes duration times. Early N/A cams (same as 951) values are the following:

Intake opens 1 degrees after TDC
Intake closes 49 deg. after BDC

Exhaust opens 43 deg. before BDC
Exhaust closes 3 deg. before TDC

"new" N/A cams values:

Intake opens 1 degrees after TDC
Intake closes 49 deg. after BDC

Exhaust opens 47 deg. before BDC
Exhaust closes 1 deg. before TDC

2.7L N/A has the same values

So, only the exhaust side lobes are different.

Is this really enough to make a discernible difference?

i had different numbers cant find them at presant but as i remember the exhuast duration goes from 219 up to 228 and inlet from 224 to 228 and a web cam is about 232.i just got a report of the web cam making a midrange torque loss with a standard tubo and almost (motec)standard car

I have an NA cam, the car feels better at higher revs but I am not too sure bc I also added an aluminum flywheel at the same time.

So the early N/A cams are the only cams upgrade ?

No,early N/A cams are the same as the turbo cam. If want to stick with a Porsche cam then go with the 85.5 later N/A cam which has more exhaust duration.
If you want to go with an aftermarket cam though there are many options available.
