Best MAF ?

Yes you can i run 55lbs and I run a K27/8 a friend of mine runs 55lbs on a K26/8 and makes lots of torque - both running guru chips, with the standard turbo( for an S) his fuel curve is spot on.
My fuelling isn't quite right but its not that far out. Admitedly with a MAF you should get better response and you can fine tune if there is a controller.

Ouch! They dont look very cool.
Actually I am just over 300RWHP but my last Dyno was just under. Davids car with the standard K26/8 and AFM made a flywheel figure of 370ft/lbs, and it was just after the dyno was calibrated. Dyno is Dynodynamics load dyno rated to 1750BHP, now also used by EVO magazine. It is a tough dyno to get high numbers out of, standard cars almost always produce less than the factory figures there.
As a comparison on another (less acurate) dyno the year before my car made over 300RWHP with fewer mods and lower boost - (though a standard boxster S made 250BHP on the same day). It was tough for some losing over 35BHP no mods just different dyno for the shoot out, but we are happy that we now have a decent accurate repeatable reference.
So you can get power with the AFM but my next mod is likely to be a MAF - will be interesting to see the difference.

I have used Siemens #72 injectors with the stock AFM, no problems.

Once the afm is maxed out thats it. Maf has the ability to spread out load with every injector change. Allowing you to run larger injectors correctly. The problem is that the maf's that are typically used are not sized exactly the same as a afm. If they were. One would not have to tune a thing because the late afm used in our cars has a linear air flow pattern just like a maf. If someone had the resources to build a maf meter from scratch and size it exactly like the afm we wouldn't need a piggyback or chips to make the swap. All one would do is swap out what ever injector you want to install up to 72lb and the maf would correct the load and look up for each one.
For the record though, the only correct statement you make is this

The best MAF is no MAF at all! Then of course im not using anything of the stock Motronic. I could use a MAF, but why bother.
That reminds me, I gotta get around to ordering that $40USD MAP sensor so I can go over 21PSI at some point....
