Your getting an easy ride in the 944 forum - My 951 has over 100hp more without spending anywhere near the price difference, so a boxterS is going to feel slow. On track - the only place to fully exploit the handling - I use track tyres and I find 4 sit quite nicely in the boot of my 951. I anhilate boxsters on track and give GT3s and 996 turbos a tough time. For cruising past the beach a boxster may offer advantages.

They are very different cars but for 25K I maintain you can have a well modded 951 or a standard BoxterS. I would take the modded car every time. A Boxter with GT3 engine / uprated brakes / seats / suspension would interest me, if you find me one for 25k I would take it (even in LHD)

I agree w/the above, a boxster S and a 951 are not comparable in any way... They're very different cars, for very different purposes. The 951 offers a performance package (and ofcourse I'm not talking about a stock turbo here). On track, you're not likely to find a car that'll come close to it for anywhere near the price.

A boxster seems like it would make a better daily driver, if you don't mind not having the power... Unfortunately I do mind. That said my hunger for power gets smaller, and my appreciation for newness grows on me as time passes, so maybe I would like a Boxster S if I could afford to keep the modded 951S next to it, in a few more years.

One other point, I believe the boxster (and 996) were engineered down to price. I feel there is less quality (engineering reserve if you like) in the newer cars (post 993) So a Boxster may age faster, and the little (and not so little) faults might start to appear sooner.

(in the UK when new a 1990 951 cost more (around £42,000) than a new boxster does now despite the 15 year difference).
