WTB: Bursch test pipe?
It seems like these are getting harder and harder to find.. Any ideas? I can't really afford $550 for a SFR test pipe, although I know it would last me longer than a bursch..
Edit: Or come to think of it, any used test pipe thats relatively cheap would be nice too.. I just wanna get rid of the cat, and still have the ability to throw it back on for emissions.

Just have a muffler shop cut the old cat off clean, weld flanges or V-bands on both ends. Then have them flange or V-band the existing pipe and a new test pipe section. A local shop here will do it 'off the car' for about $100. They won't touch it on the car though due to smog regs. It's cheaper than a Bursch and you can get the test section done in stainless steel like the rest of it.

Or a 2 foot 2.5 inch piece of straight pipe. about $6 bucks
cut and weld, if you can, if not muffler clamps will work fine.

Unless I can get a good deal on a test pipe, I think I'll prolly just go with the straight pipe and welded-in flanges for now. I'm thinking I'll do full exhaust this summer, but I want something to hold me till then. A Bursch rusts, so I'd replace it eventually anyways.

The Bursch pipe, while not necessarily the best, is cheap, light and will probably last as long as you have the car. I've had mine for about 5 years and repainted it last year (while out anyway for emissions) with high temp paint to fix a small amount of surface rust. They're hard to beat for the buck, especially picking up a cheap one like John's which is even local. Good luck.

Check out www.performanceproducts.com i thought i remember seeing bursche stuff or something similar in their mailed catalogue.
BTW, i think serge944 used to have the bursch test pipe and got rid of it because it resonated like crazy.
