Well, after that whole ****storm on the OT forums, it seemed only appropriate that something like this happen.

Note- there is some technical merit to this story.

driving down the freeway, pretty empty. i see a nice set of HID's coming in the rear view. around here there's more big 5-serieses than there are performance cars so i think nothing of it. he sits behind me for a little bit, maybe pondering "95ONE? what does that mean?"

so once we hit a truly open stretch (nothing in view for another few exits), he pulls next to me. not a bimmer, not a maxima with HID retrofit, 350Z. tasteful trunk lid wing, black rims with chrome lip, and nice sounding exhaust. he sits there......then drops a gear and floors it for a second.......i'm enticed. i drop a gear, and match. he gets a good jump and.................



the poor bastard never had a chance .

he pulls a car length with his jump, and my late reaction, i pull even.......then one......then two car lengths.

i'm sorry, sir. did you just pay 35k+ for a new car w/o those tasteful mods that just got beat by a 20 year old Porsche?

during the race tho, i kept hearing like something was hitting my car, like a little pebble would hit my window......then another......every like.....10-20 seconds. REALLY weird. i'm kinda freaked out, cuz it's only happening at speed (55/60), and i cant place the sound. i mean....there's no rock trucks. so i get off the freeway and i'm thinking "the car's just been at the mechanic all day, wtf, did they leave some bolts loose in the undertray that are just now falling out?

anyone wanna take a guess as to what it was?

Just out of curiousity, what mods do you have? Is a stock 951 faster then a 350z?

Well, I know that my wife's '01 Mustang GT conv is faster than my mother's '03 350Z roadster, and when my 951 was stock, it ate my wife's GT for breakfast. That should help...... maybe.

I can say I have messed with quite a few 350's at the tail of the dragon during Z-days and I can pull on them hard in a straight. I realy loose them in the turns.

GET YOUR CAR DYNOED WITH AN A/F, detonation is the sound more than likely and if you continue to run her hard your head gasket will go BOOM!!!!

You crazy mexican bastard. Your car is detonating. You guys only have 91 octane out there don't you? Turn to boost down, get a wide-band, get the car dynoed and tuned properly. You don't want to do a head-gasket on this car if you don't want to. Trust me. My brother let mine overheat and that started a 4 month saga of working 10 hours a day writing embedded systems code followed by 3 hours of porsche work every night.

detonation.........BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ. it was a stack of papers being held by a cir-clip that was flapping around in the back seat. they'd whip on each other pretty hard.

guru 15 psi chips, full exhaust, 3 bar fpr, reliaboost. and that whole......full exhaust w/no cat thing. it's not surprising i pulled 3 car lengths on him (counting his jump).

i thought detonation too until i looed around and saw that GODDAMNED stack of papers. i threw them in the garbage can when i got home screaming "BEGONE AWFUL STACK"


edit- the dyno should come within the next month or so, if anything i should be running rich. if the a/f comes back a litlle lean, then i guess it's vitesse time......guess i was gonna do that anyway.
