That does resemble to Powerhaus deal, I agree. And the whole point is that you can do a 16V the cheap way. But as Chris White said, speaking from alot of experience, it is a very expensive proposition to do it the right way. And he's saving alot of money and labor doing it himself. I had initially looked into it with Powerhaus before I took the route I did. And I don't even want to tell you, back in 2003, what Powerhaus wanted "just" for the engine alone, yikes!

Rob,

I think they post the price. I thought it was around $20k.

I think, for all the people who think it can be done cheap, do it!

I would love to see it, see your build sheet with how much you have invested etc... Lots of talk but, I never see a cheaply built 16v 2-3.xxltr motor on the RL..

just lots of talk..

Well, let me say this as you already know. You can try and start with a strict budget, but as things progress it inflates. You either run into problems, other things need to be fixed/upgraded to support the new HP, yada, yada, yada. So I definately exceeded my budget, but thats ok. I will only live once, and I always wanted to do this. And also, when you start adding mods, its a true addiction, you cant stop. I know I cant, help!

Im not going to go into the Powerhaus thing, for I dont want to start a flame and that will go OT. But I am "very very" happy I didnt not go with them. And the prices they have? LOL. Right.... look at what you get? Look at the 1980s technology. Im not going to go into deeper. But I almost crapped in my pants when I got a quote from them, let alone the JME - which his prices were way HIGHER "just" for the engine. Wow!

Rob.
I know, I'm not picking on you rather than everyone who says it can be done for very little. Let me ask you, how many conversions have you seen on this board? Lets look at the HP stickyed thread, how many 3+ltr motors, how many 16v's?
Answer is??? not many. I can't understand why not?? "its so cheap to do" ?? lol

sorry, tired and crabby...goodnight.

It's my car. It's not a Powerhaus built engine.
It costs almost the same as the amount I have read spent on 3.0L 8V.

FWIW, I've seen more 16v 3L Turbos in person than I've seen on this board. Most owners do not frequent the web forums.

I would also like to know the compression with stock 951 pistons and the 16v head.

I have a price sheet they emailed me when I first started looking into a 16v turbo conversion. They really think people are idiots with the "Powerhaus only specials."

I would post the price sheet for people to see, but I don't know if that's against any rules.

I wouldn't post it Jesse, let it be. And that sheet is just some generic build sheet. But then again when's the last time they update their web site, wait let me guess, 1981 - maybe? Total joke. Anyway, I dont want to go OT, and make this a vendor thing per ce. I would love to, but won't. I "personally" had a very good friend of mine had an engine built by them recently, and let's just say the engine doesn't run. I'll leave it at that.

Back to the program...

Did you have to make a cutout in your hood for the extra cam sprocket?

Looks real sharp man!

Yes I had to make a 4" x 2" cutout in the hood.

Thanks!

I take it you're not using the variocam actuator then?

Which pistons did you end up using? Did you sleeve the block?
