Default I thought you guys might appreciate this more...

...than the regular forum...all they want to do is talk about wheel spacers.

After spending so much time helping Ashton get his car sorted out I decided to take a day and do some long overdue work to mine.

Guru Racing (i know...) camber plates, M030 A-arms, M030 brake ducts, New (rebuilt at Koni) M030 Koni yellows, Racers Edge collars, Hypercoil springs 200# (these are temporary), dropped rear using the eccentric. Enjoy

As soon as I source a set of 'big black' front calipers, I have a set of M030 spindles and floating TT 13" drilled rotors waiting to go on.

If those things weren't hot pink, I'd consider putting them on as at some point I'll need new front strut mounts (so my mechanic tells me).

Tell me more about your brake cooling set up please...

You're going to like your new spindles and brakes, I do think 993tt stuff or the big blacks are overkill however, especially for an S2 engined 944. Even on track (especially w/the extra cooling), the stock non MO30s do fine with more agressive pads, the turbo S stuff is more than enough. That IS my opinion, yours may ofcourse vary.

Anyway, very nice looking set up, sure it maybe soft now, but I bet it feels very precise if there's no play in any of the components.

Tim,
My brake ducting is OE stuff off an M030 968. You can also buy them here:
http://www.frozenrotors.com/coolbrake.shtml
theirs include metal brackets to use on non-M030 A-arms.

Gobogie,
They are more like purple than pink.

Ted,
BW Motorsports wheels. Originally purchased here:

What length front springs did you use?

The S2's are legal to run big blacks in stock class. I think you'd be remiss not to put on big blacks.

pm me, I might have a set available.

dropped rear using the eccentric.
Where did you decide to set your ride height at, ie: what is your measurement at the front and rear wheel arches?

ehall,
front springs are 12" but that is too long. Waiting to get some 10" 300# for the front and 8" 500# for the rear.

f1,
you have a PM.

Bill,
It's about 12.5" from the center of the hub to the bottom lip of the fender all the way around.

I disagree, the rotors seem significantly heavier, and more expensive as are the pads. If it's not going to make you stop any quicker (I can lock up my R comps on 8 inch wide wheels all around on a non MO30 brake car w/race pads from 130mph, consistently and it was a modified turbo not a stock S2), why do it? One could argue that it would allow for a friendlier pad, better modulation, etc. but for my personal car, I wouldn't do it, especially not on an S2.
Ahmet

Edit: this is with one of my previous track cars, an 87 turbo with a number of other mods as well

From my understanding Big Blacks and Big Reds are the same dimensions. The Big Blacks are the 928S4 calipers (bigger than the Turbo S calipers) and they mount without modification i.e. with the BIg Reds you would have to switch the position of the crossover tubes and bleed screws before you mounted them on a '44 since our calipers are behind the rotor.

The Turbo S has the same calipers as the 928 S4 and the 993 C2.
Do the brake ducts scoop air from under the car?
