I'm using the magnaflow muffler, and the wastegate dump is connected to the exhaust. I would have figured the dump into the atmosphere would have been too loud. I'm very happy with it. I'm running 15 psi of boost now, and the boost comes on quick. i love it.

Kinda hard to compare mufflers when they have different inlet sizes isn't it?

Hey Guys,
For those who want to hear what the dump to atmosphere sounds like, I just posted an in-car clip. I put on the LR 3" exhaust w/ Magnaflow muffler and no wastegate tie-in a few weeks ago. The Magnaflow is a straight-through design.

Exhaust video Sorry for the poor camerawork. The video is with the windows up. These were 3rd gear ~3k-4k rpm pulls. BTW, I have full sound insulation in the car, stock engine, turbo, wastegate, & downpipe.

Under boost, the car would be too loud for the street. Since mine is mainly a dedicated track car it isn't an issue for me.

I drove the car another time with the windows down. Trust me, it's loud when the wastegate opens. You would definitely attract the attention of the boys in blue.

You'll have to wait until track season resumes... in March or so.

When I get my injectors back I'll see if I can get some additional video.

Actually its very loud, trust me I had one and so did a friend of mine. Mine dumped back into the exhaust and his was the atmosphere. Way to loud for me, so I had to change it. Maybe for a track car it would be nice. But it is so loud that its annoying (to me) and you will attract cops too, without a doubt.

Your's is very loud even now. I guess that is to be expected from a 4" system though.

If you have the choice, order the XR-1 muffler. ST tested both the flowmaster and the borla mufflers from LR and the borla proved to be far superior.

Where are you now, in Guam or what? I thought you're on vacation for a while? And I know its pretty loud now, but "nothing" compared to what it was, not even close. I'll have to give ST a call and ask him. I know he's busy in his race shop working on that beast of his.

Wes, what muffler were you using when you did the comparison between the 3" and 4" system?

OT: did you ever get those log files that I sent you? I think my spam filter may be causing some problems.
