I haven't touched it yet, but it will be sent off this winter. I did some measuring and the hotside is an 8, not a 6. This probably explains your high numbers with it. I'll be sure to keep the board posted when I get it rebuilt.

With the T04E, stock (but freshly serviced) injectors, 3 bar fpr, Authority MAF and chips, a 2.5 cat bypass pipe and Borla exhaust, and a simple manual boost controller set for 17psi, the car made 308whp.

The Authority MAF and chips were purchased by the previous owner as a kit with the K27/6 and 3 bar fpr, but work fine with the T04E, other than the A/F mixture is a bit rich up top. Maybe at lower altitude it would be correct.

I never dyno'd the car with the K27/6, but it had more lag than the T04E, and less top end power as well.

And Hi Dana....haven't see you in a long time, nor have I ever had the pleasure of driving your car. Wouldn't it be nice to drive down to sea level sometime and see how these turbos can really spool up?

Gary

all that and you only got 308hp!

wtf did I seriously miss something here. Your #'s sound way way low

on 19psi(by 6k that 19 was more like 15psi) and bolt ons my stock 26 went 301hp and 341tq. Your car may have issues without you knowing it. I would think your combo at that boost level would be good for 340-350hp.

are you sure?

so it was a 27/8?

that thing had full spool at 3000 / 3500 rpms.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure. The trim and compressor are larger than the typical #6. I'll verify it when it gets rebuilt.

^^^im with him on this one!a k27(6 or 8) with a maf, would produce more than that.maybe your wastegate wasnt good?boost leak.id figure 320rwhp on those mods and that amount of boost.

with stock injectors pushing out 308whp they would be working at 125% duty cycle at 3bar.
that cant be right?
pulling back timing on the lean?

I thought the stock injectors were only 384 cc/min (36.571 lb/hr)

My previous 951 had a sfr stage 2 t04b with a 8 hotside bb turbine. I was able to get 320whp and 340torque at 18/19 psi. Pump fuel on a dyno jet. I was using a afm chip with a arc2 piggy and 55 lb injectors. I was getting 1 bar at 2900 rpm in fourth gear peak torque can in at 3800 rpm. My present 951 runs a larger turbo 1 bar at 3100. I made 355 whp 358w/torque at 17 lbs with afm chips and sfr maf. The top end feels like it goes for ever. Peak torque is at 4300. I liked both turbos. The sfr had a very good spool and was faster feeling between 3000 rpm to 4200 rpms. The t04e i'm using now has a sick top end and decent midrange power. I think it's good for 380whp at 20 lbs. On a stock motor without any head work. I'm redynoing it soon with a Vitesse maf.(I don't think I am going to give this one up any time soon) The sweet spot on the turbo is past 17lb. It really comes alive. Puts a big smile on your face. You really hate to shift gears because it feels like it can go for ever. Back in the mid 90s I installed a k27/6 on a friends car. At the time it was a beast of a ride. Both turbo's I have used since will outperform the k27. It was a very good turbo for it's day. BTW John I have never seen a k26/6 go over 270 whp. I once saw a turbo s dyno 300 at the wheels. I think he was running well over 20 psi though.

"All that and you only got 308whp?"

Well, when you think about it's really not "all that".....only changes from stock are the T04E/46, 3bar fpr, Authority MAF/chips with 5psi more boost than stock, and 2.5 cat-bypass & Borla. And the dyno run was done at 6000ft, where 17psi is equivalent to only 14psi at sea level. I know there was a correction factor applied for the altitude, but not sure what it was or if it was accurate.

"with stock injectors pushing out 308whp they would be working at 125% duty cycle at 3bar
I thought the stock injectors were only 384 cc/min (36.571 lb/hr)"

Good point, and I think you're correct about the flow rate of the injectors. One of the reasons I put the car on the dyno after installing the T04E was to make sure the mixture was not lean under boost. The A/F ratio looks good; if anything, a bit rich up top (11:1). I can't explain this, but the altitude likely had something to do with it.

Oh and this dyno run was with 50% normal pump premium and 50% 100 octane.

I do know that at the track a while back, I was able to stay within a car length of a 993TT down the 2000 ft. front straight, so I'm pretty happy with the power the car produces. Now if only I could get the suspension worked out.....

I've been wrong before, but the major complaint I read over and over again was the 27/8's lag which turned into identifying areas of thermal inefficienties, and you know how that path goes.

Snappy, I didn't see what size engine this is for.

This is me:

The "Super 75"
75# per minute 67mm compressor wheel packed in a TO4E. (#8 hotside)

With AFM I get full 18 psi by about 4K. More lag then I was expecting, but not bad. I am hoping with MAF that have yet to install and good tuning, can bring that down 200 revs or so.

"if anything, a bit rich up top (11:1). I can't explain this, "

bigger turbo means more efficient up top.
