Anybody looking for a track car that can use TLC for cheap?
I'm selling my track car in favor of something a bit more dual purpose. I would let it go for $4k or so, but probably not a whole lot less.
The car is an 87 with a turbo S transaxle, weld in roll bar, 5 point harnesses, brake cooling kit, braided SS brake lines, 400+lbs springs with large (27mm if I remember correctly) torsion bars. It will come with several sets of rotors and pads. Has R compounds currently installed. Car is located in Raleigh, North Carolina. It uses oil, and is not a garage queen by any means, but the paint looks pretty descent, and interior isn't that bad save for dash cracks.
Know anybody interested?

Here's me passing a 993 and smoking at the same time last weekend:
Here's another shot of the car in the pits for it's last pre-lap check:
I was passed by only one (tube frame race) car the entire weekend in group 3.
I want to point out that it uses lots of oil/smokes, and is not "buy it and race it for 10 million miles and don't even think about it" type of car, but it is quite fast on track did get me there, had a blast with it, and it got me back. Good oil pressure, very recent turbo, and didnot even reach the middle of the gauge in 30 min. lapping sessions in temperature. It's got 968 castor blocks, and I'm sure a million other things I'm forgetting.

Not really, there's a very small dent in the right rear fender (far smaller than a dime). There's a scratch/shallow dent on the drivers door, and a dent that's been pulled out on the right front fender. Overall it's quite straight, but I'm selling it as a track car, and all that this implies. I don't want anybody to go a long distance to look at the car then complain that it's not "clean"... It's a $4k track car that has quite a few good parts, not the least of which is the suspension/transaxle, brakes, etc.

Have you done a leakdown on it? If the turbo is fresh, can we exclude it as a cause for the smoke? If so, this leaves the rings as a possible cause.. However for the price, it's not bad.

I have done a compression check yes, it's quite low on cylinder 3, where it also has a burnt exhaust valve. I have not done a leakdown. If I were keeping the car I would do a head job and throw rings on it and call it a day.

Have I replied to your e-mail? Which account did you send it to?
Here's pictures from last weekend at Rockingham PCA track event:

Here are pictures of the car with it's imperfections:

Note that both of those galleries are multi page, you can go forward in the pages at the bottom right corner of the pages.
