944Cup Cars
Here are some pics of the assembled 944Cup field at the final race of the series at Watkins Glen last weekend.
There were a few regulars who did not make the trip, but there were also a few first-time runners from the north east who joined us. It was terrific to run with EMRA, who stage a great event! If everything works out over the winter, we may be seeing a North East chapter of the 944Cup run under EMRA sanctioning. Just talking at this stage, but based on last weekend's event it would be a great chapter of the Cup series.

The pics show the entire field, which includes NA 944Cup cars and 16v/Turbo 944SuperCup cars. There is a series championship for each field.
The 2005 SuperCup champoinship was decided in the race just before these pics were taken, which is why how the SuperCup series trophy wound up sitting on my car.
The 2005 Cup championship came down to the last race on the day after these pics were taken. It was a fight to the finish in a rain-soaked race between Russ Franklin [second from front - blue roof/red tail] and Ricky Vimmerstedt [black with dayglo orange ITS, 3 cars closer than mine]. Ricky won, after he and Russ were literally door to door for most of the race.
Another great 944Cup season, and plenty more new starters lining up for 2006 already!

Chris,
SuperCup cars run heavier than PCA weight. Best SC lap was in the 2:17s, best NA lap was a 2:20.
The track was cold [ambient 55F], but the weather was glorious that day. It rained like hell the second day.

Crap Tony, if you were running 2:17s I'm not going to bother playing. I'll just stick in DEs so I can convince myself that 2:25s are a good lap time.. ;-)

Best I saw was a high 2:18. Steve Miller was driving like a man posessed, and using his superior knowledge of the Glen, honed in his SRF, to basically blow my doors off with his 944S2 in the 17s.
A couple of new guys, one in an S2 and one in a Turbo S, were substantially faster than any of us. No scales at the event, so who knows what weights they were running. Assuming they were at legal class weight [and I have no reason to think that they weren't], the new NE Chapter will provide some hot contenders for the 2006 National Runoff!!

Do any of you guys know this car?
Hi folks, I see this chat is old BUT I recently bought an 1984 Porsche 944 (Picture attached). With that, the car came with some paper work. Some of the paper work are track time sheets. (One is attached). I did a search and some of the names in this chat popped up.
The paperwork shows Richard Neff owned the car. Although the paper shows the car as Red/flames and thus car is clearly silver. With no real signs of being red. It may have been brownish before silver.
Is this car familiar to any of you? It was run at Watkins Glen, Summit Point, VIR and Carolina Motorsports park. Most paperwork is from 2001-2006.
Ever car has a story, and I'm just trying to learn this car's story as I get it ready to get back on the track.
any information would be wonderful.
one more bit of info. On the rear bumper, it said "Thank You Michelle!!"
