Question low boost!

Hey guys I was driving yesterday and my car is only getting 1.2 bar on the stock gauge. The car also has noticeably lost a step. It seems like it is boosting but not getting close to full power. Am I looking at a problem w/ the wastegate. Thanks

the engine is completely stock and I am using the same kind gasoline (amoco premium) 93 octane. This is an 86 turbo. If the klr is going into safe mode, any idea's on what might be causing it to do so?

When that happened to me, it ended up bieng a bad cv valve it wouldnt hold vacuum. I put in a reliaboost set to factory level and i got all my boost back but now it comes on right away.

Assuming it's still doing it after restarting the car, it wouldn't be the limp home mode from overboosting but rather an electrical or maechanical problem. When the CV loses power it will default open sending all boost pressure to the top of the wastegate thus only allowing about 4 psi of boost. I would check the two electrical connectors on top of the CV first. Second because it easy and to rule it out before going further, make sure you have a good vacuum line going to the blow-off valve, if that's disconected somewhere you will only get about 6 psi. This is why it's good to have an aftermarket vacuum/boost guage to diagnose some of these things. Third, you're looking a replacing the CV due to internal failure or removing it from the system but I'd only do that while adding aftermarket chips just to be safe...

Good luck.
