Best mod yet! S2 ring and pinion

Good luck.
It is better to install the S2 R&P into the 951 box because the 951 5th is not as high as the S2 5th gear.
You can get away with installing the whole S2 trans into your car, however (like me).

Mike,
I'm thinking you would have to get them from the dealer or from a used source. Any other vendors would have to do the same as you since to my knowledge only Porsche makes the parts (unlike clutches that can be bought from several sources.)
P.S. When are you going to come over for a beer?

Whoa I was wondering why this had never come up, old news.
I am planning to hold out for the 6 speed anyway, but glad to get the info, despite the heat

Gearing, really, is a personal preference thing.
However, must of us doing engine mods for more hp, do it via an increase in torque (more boost).
Generally, more engine torque warrants TALLER gearing, not shorter.
I guess if you live in bigger centers (lots of traffic, not too many open roads, etc.), or you leave your engine basically stock (power wise), then a shorter R&P might enhance performance.
For me, I actually went taller than stock. Otherwise, there was a feeling that first gear was kinda useless, and a general feeling that I was running out of revs far too early.
