Tifo, thanks for trumping the most technical post I've made in a long time. How am I supposed to get any "cred" when you go and post up an uber-post like that right after mine?

This was an article I had written for the still-born 944 webzine that never got off the ground earlier this year. I also have photos with captions to go along with it, I'll try to scrounge those up for it. I have a few other articles on other mods done, maybe I should just post them up on the DIY section here on Renn as it looks like there will never be a 944 webzine.

tifosiman.....so you know a thing or two about 944 steering racks then?.....WOW....great article!! yes...i had an 83 na with the factory manual rack and found it great with good feedback.....never had those vibration issues between 50-70 mph that other owners claimed though?....

I took all the PAS off mine and looped the hoses together. So far 3,000 miles and it's fine - didn't mess with shims or anything and there is no problem with it.
It's really heavy at low speed so I have a electric assist motor ready to be fitted over the winter but I will have my EMS turn it off at something like 20mph. I think even the PAS rack ratio is too slow for track use and once I have it working with the electric assist I'll be looking for a quick rack.
It is not a good street car mod though.
