Default New To The Porsche Name

Hey guys, i currently own a 1990 Jetta Flair 2, also a 1980 320i, and am now looking at a 1986 Porsche 944 Turbo. Totally new to the porsche scene and i'm wondering about pricing and such, what to look for in a good one. Its at the VW dealer close to my place and they are Asking 15k Canadian. I figure he will go lower if i pay cash up front. It has about 130km on it. Its white with black leather interior. Looks supspiciosly beautiful to be for sale lol. I wouldn't sell it if i owned it. Quick tips on what to check out and such would be great. thanks guys

belts, waterpump done recently with documentation. condition of paint, interior, wheels, which options, does everything work, sunroof, a/c, instruments, any leaks, are part of the package.

a $15k car better be perfect.

you could potentially go a black box testing approach - put it on a dyno and log boost, a/f, torque & hp. Then come back here and post the results.

130km is about 81000, but even with that mileage, ~$13000 usd is still quite a bit for an '86. That being said, if the car is damn near perfect, I think that's not too bad of a dealer price

for that price, i would buy the eurospec 951 for sale by a rennlister for $9500 canadian. even with delivery/transport fees (if needed), it will still be cheaper;

It better be absolutely MINT! I recently bought an 87 turbo w/ 108,000 km from a dealer in calgary for 15k. It wasn't the cheapest and it wasn't the most expensive. He also had an 88 turbo w/160,000 for 14k, I passed on that one as it had had a paint job in it's history and higher milage. The dealer in Calgary had the car for about 18 months and had lowered the price significantly to move it. I also notice the 88 he had also dropped another 1,000 dollars after I bought mine! Damn!maybye he would have dropped a thousand for me!

Good luck and happy hunting!

No you got it the wrong way, Government had to increase our taxes due to all the softwood lumber tariffs that the Americans imposed (which is illegal w/ the NAFTA)... That's why our porsches are so expensive... that and only 1511 951's were ever sold in Canada over 86-89...

must go back to work now comrade, the supervisors with the stun guns are getting suspicious...
