Default What are these door panels?

Saw these door panels on a 951 for sale on eBay.

See: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=4579599605

Is what appears to be a speaker enclosure stock or aftermarket? If aftermarket any info where they could be found? Thanks.

The elongated part running along the bottom of the door that connects to the door pull is a stock part (10 speaker system). The piece by itself that is closest to the door jamb (vaguely octogon shaped) is aftermarket or custom built.

Why would you want to ruin the sleek lines of the factory panel??

It's a shame because the rest of the car looks really nice.

Building a pod in the front like that allows you to easily fit a 6.5" component set in a proper enclosure, for excellent midbass. I've done a couple cars that way.

thats a very nice looking 951 with relatively low miles. i personally don't care for the extra speakers on the door panel but its something that wouldn't be that hard to restore back to original. should be interesting to see how high it goes. any predictions? I'm going to guess the reserve is ~15k

with that mod installed, you lose access to the little tray along the bottom edge.

Ahh the double edged sword of Flash. It can do many wonderful things. That particular piece of ****e isn't among them.

Sam, how much mounting depth does a pod design like that afford? I've got some decent MB Quart 6.5 separates that I'd like to install. They need about 2.5" which obviously isn't going to fly in the stock 4x6 location.

Our door panels are bland to begin with,...and losing that compartment is not much of a loss.

Everytime I see a listing like that, I think....man, now I am going to have to go steal the images out of my cache.

Brian, I've easily fit 4.5" deep midbass drivers - there's plenty of room to vary the depth of the pod if you need more. My next goal is to fit 8" dia shallow midbass sub up front.
