Default Weltmeister Chip+Dual Port Wastegate

I have an '86 turbo and was installing the wastegate shim for the Welmeister chip upgrade. Of course, the bolts on the wastegaqte broke and I need a new one.

Does anone know if I put in a dual port wastegate with this kit?

Thanks for your help.

Get a manual boost controller and a TiAl wastegate.

www.speedforceracing.com for the wastegate

www.homedepot.com for the boost controller

Ted, i'm guessing he's going to need a 'tad' more guidance about buying a MBC from Home Depot.

Ted,
On a somewhat related note, can I ask why you prefer or what the differences are between the Tial or Lindsey DP wastegates?
Thanks

I am going to have a VERY high quality datalogging MAP sensor on a Lindsey dual-port conversion wastegate on a friend's car. We will see if there is any valve float.
The absolute truth will be posted.

No problem. I have never used the Lindsey DP WG, and from what I have been told it is the BEST "modified stock" wastegate out there. Having that said, I would never use any modified stock wastegate. The only reason in the past to use one was because of the ease of installation. (They bolt right in, whereas years ago the tial would have required cutting and welding.) Now that several companies provide adapter plates for the tial, it also pretty much bolts right in. Why mess around with anything else?

Anything that gets rid of that infernal torque tube bracket is fine by me! A tial will soon happen. . . BTW what boost level are you running on your welt chips? I've been told (but cannot get anyone there to confirm - still trying to get a hold of someone) that the map limit is 15psi, which sounds kinda wimpy to be honest. I run 14.5psi (to leave a little safety factor) on a 3.0-bar FPR and I think it's running a tad rich. There may be room to increase boost, but I was wondering if your chips came with a manual or anything that explains the mappings. Failing that I might need to get Danno or someone to read 'em on his chip equipment one of these days to answer the question once and for all, but it just seems that only mapping to 15psi is a real waste of chip capacity and I'm suprised that Weltmeister would stop there rather than taking the mapping higher. Obviously I don't want to try "trial and error" for risk of popping a H.G.

All my info says with the chip is that the boost will now get to 1.9 bar. Assuming a sea level pressure of 16psi, this equates to 14.4psi. So even your 15psi seems high according to this.

Hmm. Interesting. Do they mean it's supposed to kick the boost (assuming factory configuration and CV) up to 1.9 bar also? When I started off, I ran with the CV and just put the chips in and did notice an improvement, although not quite 1.9 bar (probably was just about factory - 1.75-ish). Also, does it mention the FPR requirement? I may be running rich with the 3.0-bar FPR, but certainly don't want to take the chance of popping a headgasket by re-installing the original 2.5.

The Welt chips, including the ones I'm getting rid of, are actually CARB certified. My info says the same as Viperchris suggests 14.4 psi tops for the K26-6. Mine were supposed to be for the K26-8 but I should have known that Welt couldn't provide a custom CARB chip in a special 24-pin config. The Vitesse chip and new slide in WG shims arrives today..woo woo

I thought 1 bar was equal to 14.7 psi?

It's actually 14.5 psi. 1 Atmosphere is 14.7 psi. A "bar" is slightly less than 1 atm.
