Default A Vitesse 951 vs. a 2003 Ninja 900?

Disclaimer: This is just for discussion purposes only.

I've been eyeing the Vitesse Stg. II upgrades and have been very impressed from all the stories I've read on here. My friend just got a 2003 Kawasaki Ninja 900. I think it has around 156 hp. Plenty enough to blow by nearly any street car, but would a 951 with the stage II or III be able to keep up with one of these? I'm not trying to encourage street racing or anything like that and I KNOW that this is not what 951's were made for, so, for discussion purposes, the runs would be on a drag strip from like 40 - 120mph. What kind of times would you get with the 951?

p.s. sorry to disappoint those of you who clicked looking for a "kill" story or some such.

I have played around with a friends GSXR 600 and I embarrassed him. A 156 hp 900, wow. There is not going to be a 951 that can hang with ANY BIKE off the line, I can tell you that much. Let's wait for Special tool to chime in, since he goes out and looks for street bikes, because that is the only competition he can find. . .

I think it would be close but i have feeling the bike would come out on top. But porsches aren't meant to be drag cars. Now on some back roads!

danny951: This gets down to what John said, plain and simple. It's all about power to weight, period. This is even moreso if its a straight drag. If a bike is tuned right, and at least a 750cc, he will kill you on a drag - whether its at a stop or rolling. I have personally ridden for years, GSXR 750s & 1100s, along with a Kawaski ZX7RR Muzzi factory bike (sick). And I will tell you that they will crap all over a 951 - bar none. I am so sure, I'll get an older GSXR1100 and I'll meet up with ya. Just bring the pink slip please, for I can use a good project track car.

good points.. he was saying I would have to have about a 1100 horsepower to match him ratio-wise. alright so, who's to say I can't outrun him? 160 on a bike is hella more scary than in my porsche.

140mph on my Ducati is a gentle cruise. Not scary at all. I never topped it out because thats illegal..lol

If you had a chevy BB in a 924... now your talking

I think so too, but my friend who is an experienced rider has done over 200 MPH on a bike several times without a flinch. . . . yet he nearly has a heart attack in my 951 at anything around 170.

3000 lb car, 500 hp (crank) = 6lb/hp

380 lb bike + 165 lb rider, 156 hp (again, crank) = 3.5 lb/hp

Bike would own in a straight line.

I used to ride a Honda cbr600 f3 and there weren't many cars that could keep up; add to that 300cc of displacement (and about 60 hp) and 5 years of technological improvements and I'd say that zx9r would own 99.9% of cars on the road in a straight line of course

ZX900.

Period.

Only on a smallish road course would the car have a chance.

I go with the power to weight ratio thing, especially when snails are involved!
