A Vitesse 951 vs. a 2003 Ninja 900?

Well,
If they are taking stats from a bike doing top gear roll ons from 80-100, you can't compare what it would do in the riders gear of choice. Case in point, that R1 I had did about 145mph in 3rd gear at 12Krpms. That bike was a 5 speed but I never had the nerve to top out 5th. However, I did touch the red line in 4th which was just a bit over 160mph. That's when I almost died. Showing off with 145rwhp bike that wieghs about 380lbs is bound to get you in trouble. I absolutely love my car (951) and I would drewl on myself over all of your (fellow listers) 951s too. But not to bash our cars or make anyone feel inferior, the super bikes out there (modern 600cc+) are a no contest. Apples Vs Oranges. I don't think any of us have a 951 that can rip the front wheels off the ground at 100mph+. Almost all of the new bikes have that potential (depending on the rider).

I think we all agree (I do) that there a lot of bikes out there that are insanely fast, but from 60-100 or 60-120, I think there are some cars here (ST) that would win. And yeah a bike can break the tires loose and do wheelies even at 100mph, but that's a 550lbs with rider vs a 2700lb car. You can't break the tires loose at 100mph in a 951 because it weighs so much more, right?

You are right that I would be interested.
I say the 951 will win hands down. Since I pull so hard in my 951 on hayabusas, a ZX9 shouldn't be a problem at all. In fact, the aerodynamics ona zx9 are so poor, the 951 will be blowing by the ninja by the time it hits that aerodynamic wall at 87.3mph. It is common knowledge that the ZX9s become unstable and run out steam after 3rd gear.
Go run that ZX9, take a video, and show us your kill!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay,
I would love to see that happen. I would be even more impressed with the 951 if it could pull on a powerful bike. But, I have my doubts. Mostly because I have experienced the power of the open class bikes of today first hand. Someone should do the race and video tape it. Seeing would be believing.

For ANY car to pull on a bike or even walk away from one, the car would have to make 700+ HP. I've seen it happen first hand with a friend's Viper TT outrunning a GSXR1000 and a turbo Hayabusa.

Back in July I had the chance to meet my cousing's friend who lives in hawaii, he owns a 499HP Turbo hayabusa extremely sick. Anyway we decided to go for a friendly race, from start he was faster but around 110mph he started to loose ground and by 210mph it was over I had put at least a football field in between us. I am looking for the video let me see if I can find it.

700+HP viper versus busa video I have seen and I can certainly beleive that one. The viper was probably closer to 1000HP from what I understand though. A 944 turbo will never make (I know vitesse and special tool are probably scratching their heads thinking...hmmm, if we run nitrous, and a couple tweaks here and there....)anywhere near 700HP much less 1,000HP at the crank.
Car and Driver did a 0-100-0MPH test against a ZX-9 and the bike was stopped before all but one supercar had even reached 100MPH (911 turbo I think). For pure acceleration you aren't going to beat a bike (even a 600) in a 944 turbo.
Now...an SV650? Hmmm.....that I can see.

3) They make very little power and have to be really revved up
I have no fear of racing a hayabusa. They really are a joke. I think that a nicely tuned 951 will pull one hard, especially if you go from a stop. Once the turbo spools up, its all over. Have you guys felt how hard a 951 pulls when its on some serious boost? Those riders are too scared to launch like a 951 can. It comes down to you only have to beat them off the line and to 100mph. After that they will chicken out and you have won. So really if they can't pull on you from 30-100mph you will kill them. And that is just where the 951 turbo kicks in....

No streetable 951 will win a race with a bike; even from a rolling start.
Period.
Do not compare the magazine test of 80-100 in 6th to your 3rd gear roll-on. In reality, the bike will drop to 3rd and leave you for dead.
Unless your 951 can approach 200, you won't ever catch them. The bike will reach it's terminal velocity very quickly. Even the modern 600s are toping out in the 160s and reaching that speed very quickly. They will just be too far apart for you too catch.
