your right. because gearing has nothing to do with acceleration...

gearing does affect acceleration true, but I guarandamntee that the ninja will be ahead up to about 130 - 140mph, then the car will catch back up due to aerodynamics

^ you know I used to believe the same thing, until I took my bike up to 180 mph (and still pulling before I ran out of road)

It went from 100 to 180 in less than 1/2 mile and in a hurry

this was a mildly modified 2001 750 gsxr

my experience was on my 600cc (only mod was a pipe, and that really doesn't add but maybe 1hp) vs a zr1 c4 vette; true 600s run out of steam at about 155 so a bigger bike would pull better at higher speeds, so yeah the 900 would probably be ahead to about 160-170ish.

How does grip affect a race from a roll? I imagine most drivers can manage not to spin the wheels from 40 mph (even if they have a car that can do it). And I'll say that cars certainly are more aerodynamic than a bike with an obtusely shaped rider on top of it.

You are aware we are talking about a Vitesse turbo kit? Grip is a SERIOUS issue even from a roll. I have grip issues up to 3rd even with 265's on the back.

Do you have an LSD? If you do, I would suggest checking out some different tires. I know traction is a big deal on these cars, but after I installed an LSD in my car....wow, what a difference.

I'm not saying that it would have a problem breaking the wheels loose, only that if there is enough wheel spin from a roll to seriously affect acceleration times it is the fault of the driver's poor throttle modulation

The tyres are SO2's with about 500kms on them, the tyres are cool

I have an LSD sitting in my bedroom... its on the do to list

So grip effects it as well...

All bikes will hit an aerodynamic wall. However, the aceleration of most sportbikes will put far enough ahead that it would take a very long time for the car to catch up. Unless the car is capable of 180+, it's the bikes race to lose.

Take a look at the link I provided earlier. It's a comparison of several exotics comparing speed and times over a mile. The use the Viper, Lombo, RUF (CTR and R turbo) and a few race cars. They brought a MV Agusta along for fun...
