It suffers from surge. They make good power but the lag is killer.

I'd agree - comes in late enough that you need to take it all the way to the redline before you change up. Fine on track but not a good street combination.

Joseph,
There are a few 951 vendors who use the 60 trim, just remember that the size and trim of the hotside plays a cruicial, if not, the most important role in spool time.

Do a search on the 60 trim, it has been covered many times and there is lots of info in the archives for it.

Hope that helps.

Jimbo,

Do recommend the turbo you are currently using? If you were to do it again for the 2.5L, would you choose the same turbo? Are you using the stock downpipe and crossover?

Joseph, Pauerman is selling these turbos you mention, you may want to also talk with him about it.

I did do it again. I haven't used every turbo in the spectrum to decide. It would cost too much. I think I made a good educated choice. I researched and found what I believe to be the best bolt on turbo on the market today. This turbo was built custom for me. Turbonetics doesn't offer this trim. Over all I'm very happy with it so far. I will be going to a local dyno in a few weeks to see what she could do at moderate boost levels about 20psi or so. I wish I could help you with the exact specs but I seem to have lost the receipt somewhere.

I bought 60 trim haven't got the the car all finished yet though. I went full garret no watercooling and garrett hotside as well. I had to modify the crossover pipe and I made a new 3" downpipe myself see another post somwhere on here. I took a few pics of it. The crossover pipe wasn't that hard to do but I made it with the motor out of the car. Just had to buy the weld flanges since both flanges are different.

Wow, congrats on the crossover and downpipe work. Personally, I would like to keep these items stock to minmize customization. Is your motor stock? What made the decision to go 60 trim over the highly recommended 50 trim?

I wanted bigger than average and I have been putting 60 trims on 1.6 and 1.8 hondas for awhile now for people. They seem to work great on the small honda motors although they crank them alot harder. Heck we put a 70 on a AWD eclipse that flat screams. I will admit though the compressor map for the 60 isn't perfect our cars when you consider the VE of our engines etc. But nothing on paper is ever exact in real life. The 60 map actually leaves quite a bit to be desired when compared to our motors. I found a perfect map but it was going to take a lot of work to make it viable on our cars. I spent several weeks studying maps. Pauerman sells the 60 and 50 trims bolt on ready pretty cheap, you might look him up on here. My motor is fresh but stock aside from a serdii radius valve job and perp drilling the crank. I just did new rings and bearings. Hopefully have it running in the next few weeks.

Also do a search on tonyg he did alot with different turbos and was staightforward abou his setups. I used to run a K-27 that I loved on the street, made me some $$ on the street with it. Very quick setup.

Jimbo,

The GTS61 - aka GT61, SC61 uses a GT40 (56 trim) compressor wheel. This same compressor wheel is used in the ball bearing GT35R turbo and is rated for the 400-600 hp range.

Mike,
The turbo I sold you has a 60-1 compressor not a 60 trim. I think you forgot the -1 in you post.

The 60 trim has a flow rate of 50 lbs/min

So my LR Super61 is bigger than a 60 as it flows 60#/min.
