Ebay auction problem what would you do ?
Well its my b-day and I figured I would buy myself something.
I found the item on ebay and the seller and myself settled on a price for the item.
So I sent my paypal funds to end the auction. The seller in good faith tried to end it but without realizing it was less than 12 hours to go on the auction. Ebays policy does not let you end it early.
The seller is unable to end the auction.
I thought of bidding and obscene amount on the auction to guarantee that I win it.....that should work ???
I don't want to put the seller in the situation to tell someone he sold the item to someone else!
Any other suggestions? We have 10 hours.

Legally, your out of options. However if you talk with the seller and tell him you plan to bid high so that you can win it I think all will be fine in the end. Just dont make it a insanly high amount or that could make the auction a little suspect. However I doubt the eyes of ebay would catch it anyways.

He can end the listing for the item even a few hours before. I have done it before.

You DO NOT WANT TO BID AN INSANELY HIGH AMOUNT! Someone will still bid it up. If they do he might take their offer instead. Get him to end the auction.

I tried to find on ebay on how to end it. BUT it says in the policy section of sellers you can't change the description or end it with less than 12 hours to go.
Hence the in-pass.........

Furthermore, aren't the ebay fees not based on the selling price? So when you bid an insane high amount, the seller might have to pay more to eBay than he gets from you.

SO for sake of argument..............
Item is at 500..........
I snipe at the end for 1000
If any of the present buyers have a max cap on there bid .......thats as high as the auction would go. So lets say someone had 750......
My bid of 1000 would end at 755.
Unless there is some nut who has no idea what they are buying and they have 1500 as there max bid. LOL
That would be funny.
I would cover the extra selling fees over and above our price. So everyone should be happy.
Me thinks.

Tell him you and a friend are going to bid it up. He won't know if the bid below you is legitimate or not, and probably just stick to the deal you guys have already made.

I wonder if its the type of auction?
I just relayed this info to him........It will let him cancel bids but not remove the item at this point.
12 hour limitation.......

I found my 1st 944 na on ebay (but local), saw the car and made a deal right there. Then I sniped the auction with the understanding the the deal was done. Worked out fine. I got him to agree to $2100. When the bidding was done, it ended at $2700 (with me the winner of course). So I gave the guy an extra $100 when we closed the deal out of the goodness of my heart (sucker!). The guy who was bidding against me should be giving me money, considering how much $$$ I had to pour into that ratty dog to get it half nice!

So what happened?
I'd be careful about bidding it up .... some sellers will just wait it out and see if anyone bids higher and sell to them ... or, hold you to the higher price. Legally it's binding.
