NEW engine wiring harnesses!!
I spoke with a friend today about new engine wiring harnesses for our cars. I do not know the whole story yet but my buddy knows a guy on the West coast that used to make wiring harness's for Porsche Motorsport and for cars like the 962. These will be all new. The only issue that is not yet resolved is the firewall grommet. The harness will be shrunk in something along the line of Raychem tubing.
My friend purchased a factory harness from Porsche earlier this year and it listed at just over $1100 but that was the last one they had. It's not know if they will ever make anymore. IIRC the new harnesses will go somewhere in the $1100-1300 range.
Hopefully this will work out as there are quite a few that are in need of a new harness.

Chris, check this thread https://rennlist.com/forums/924-931-944-951-968-forum/192904-remanufactured-engine-wiring-harness-for-944-951-a.html. Carl Fausett from 928 Motorsport is also developing a new harness for the 944 Turbo.

Until someone actually delivers, I'd say we should encourage anyone interested in making them. I will buy one when first available, at any reasonable price.

Unfortunately, Carl's planned harness is remanufactured, it is not all new components. If Chris' connection is who I'm thinking of, there's potential for it to be a much higher quality product.

Some of the connector are not available anymore...like the 14 connector by the central electrics box.
Harnesses are not that hard to make – but they do take time. I make the harnesses for the tec3 conversion by hand – a little over a day a piece – and that’s with a loom set up for just that set up.
If anybody really wants a replacement harness for $1k I could help make one up but it seems like a lot of $ to me….might as well go tec3 (opps, sorry for the pitch!)

Carl's 928 harnesses are all new components. If you read the 944 thread linked above, the 944 harness plan is to keep the DME/KLR plugs and wiring to the firewall, where a plug is used to interface to a new harness for the engine bay side.
