Tranny Mounted vs Shortened Lever Shifter fix
Have been doing a lot of reading and web surfing to determine what solution to seriously consider on a short (and crisp) shift fix. IMHO, the shortened lever on the console only serves to lower the ****, slightly shorten the throw and increase the leverage needed to find the gears --- but does nothing to increase the "crispness" of the shift. Seems to me that the better tranny mounted linkage kits (Weltmeister, Speed-6, and others) actually take the slop out of the shift movement (because of the Heim joint) and give you some adjustability to shorten the throw distance. Having never had experience with a rear-mounted transmission, looking for some other opinions and feedback. Thanks.

Agree, the rear mounted short shift kit, reduces the throw - IMHO about 35-40%. We added the Kokeln shifter WITH the tranny kit on the track car and that combo works great.

Just so you know, the Speed-6/944Racing kit has no adjustability. Only the Weltmesiter and now discontinued Autothority linkages had adjustability.
And i agree, get the tranny mounted kit. Shortens throws considerably and adds a nice 'notchy' feeling. No more guessing if the car is in gear anymore.
