Sad sight...

I'm all for saving 944 cabs. They only made about 6,000 of them, so each one is a future classic in its own right.
However, as Maciek was saying, there's going to be quite a bit more than body work involved in bringing this poor S2 back to decent running condition.
Without even getting into the turbo conversion aspects, remember that it's not a coupe. Just replacing just the convertible top and seals alone will set you back $2K and that's doing the work yourself.
As long as you go in with your eyes open!

$1,475 with 2 days+ to go. Looks like an expensive parts car to me, given that you have no idea what parts are any good and looking at the overall condition I'd have thought very few.
It would make more economic sense to buy a nice cab and use that as a basis for a turbo conversion. Also worth considering is that cabs are flexible and with lots of power they might well not be a very nice drive. My otherwise stock S2 was horrible on 18" wheels alone (fine on 16's though and maybe also 17's but I didn't try them). Worse, who knows how structurally weakend that is after sitting ?? months/years with the underbody sealant burned off in who knows what conditions?

Michelle,
Like Luis said, I'm all about rescuing the cabriolets, the car in my sig actually had an engine fire when I bought it and I threw in a 951 engine. The other problem is that the cabs have alot more body specific parts then you first imagine so tracking those down is a pain. I am still looking for a few pieces of trim for my car. Anyways, good luck bidding on it and best of luck with the resto if you decide to do it.

I doubt it. I sold my burnt 951 for less than that car sold for, and it was in ALOT better condition.

[QUOTE=MichelleJD]The ad says there was a fire in the trans tunnel and that may be the cause of the rust. QUOTE]
I don't know about that, I think there's somethnig else going on there. That car may have had major body work and the frame could be tweaked, so make sure you get it checked out thoroughly.
Hard to believe anyone would let a good cab fall into that condition.
