Hey guys instead of speculating.
I can;t figure out how to post a link to a thread in Rennlist.
Anyways, look up the user name "jim morton" in the 944 turbo section (there are only about 4 threads).
There are posts in one of the threads talking about radar verified top speeds in a 951 during open road racing.
Anyways, that thread a 951 was clocked at a max of 178 and had multiple clocking over 170 during a race.
Does that give an idea of what one will do?

That could be true.
However, you made two assumptions. 1) Stock tire diameter and 2) a stock rev limiter.
I tend to believe the radar numbers, especially since there were multiple clockings over 170.

You'll further note that I stated that I have no doubt whatsoever that a properly set-up 951 could top 190.

I broke my personal record! Today I managed to get the needle at 270 km/u (= 168 mph) on the Autobahn. I think it was just passed 6000 RPM.

My modified electronic limiter is set at an odd number of about 6875 RPM, or something like that. I have 26" tall tires and hit the rev limiter at a real 304 km/h which is a hair under 190 mph.

I'm too much of a woman to bounce the limiter in 5th, but I'll ask a question to the brave...
What size 18" tire are you fellas running? By my calcs, a 26" tire (285/35/18) will hit 194.7mph by 7100rpm. If you went one size over on the stock phone dials (235/50/16) 190.1 could be seen by 7100rpm, so I don't really see the advantage to 18" tires. Does the extra rubber slow you down?

they are talking about rim size not tire height
hehe 26 inch rims on the 951
