Hey guys,
I'm gettin my solenoid replaced on my starter, but before i just slap it back betwen those exhaust pipes, Id rather try to give it a little more protection.
I see that there are aftermarket heat "wraps" which seem to be mylar insulators that you attach with velcro. I'm not so sure about that tho. Any idea how hot the starter gets sitting down there? Velcro sounds too plasticy for it to hold up in that sort of environment... plus it is relatively close to the ground and might be seeing a lot of weather and abuse. I really just want a wrap since its got two shields to begin with...
Any products made for turbocharged cars? Anybody done something like this?

When my starter failed, I wrapped the new one in a metalic insulating tape. It is called Thermo Shield and is an aluminum tape backed with an adhesive. I got it from Pegasus Auto Racing supplies. www.pagasusautoracing.com The formula car guys wrap their Lucas starters with this stuff.
