Just how fast can the throttle position sensor fail?
I was driving my 951 this weekend and all of a sudden it developed a strange hesitation, cutting out every now and then. I figured it could be the TPS, so I disconnected it and the problem went away.... so either 1) I have it adjusted incorrectly, or 2) it's just busted.
However I replaced the damn thing just last year - is it common for them to fail this soon?

I guess it depends on how your throttle body seals are if they are bad i wouldnt doubt it failing cause of oil getting in it. Didnt you just rebuild your motor though? you can check via diagnostic port to see if it is the TPS IIRC

Sami, yes it could fail within 1 year or less. It's an electronic piece, my local Bosch dealer was hesitating to sell me the TPS since it's been on the shlef for sometime and he had to warrenty it.

I guess I'll be needing that throttle body reseal kit them ... yeah the engine is rebuilt, but I didn't touch the throttle body (apparently it's no use to leave something intact, should have done that at the time as well...)

Ok, I replaced the TPS with a used one I got from a friend ... the old one had water (!) in it, I'm guessing it got blown in when the head gasket went - so no wonder it failed.
