These are some of the suggestions I have been given:

Redline - http://store.titanmotorsports.com/assemblylube.html
Torco - http://www.valco-cp.com/Torco.htm
Lubro-moly - http://www.paragon-products.com/product_p/lm3010.htm
Royal Purple - http://www.hrpworld.com/index.cfm?fo...action=product

I somehow doubt anyone can definitively tell you which is best. I think some are more viscous than others and that affects how easy it is to apply. Some claim to have some magic additive to eliminate wear. I think they all contain large amounts of moly. This should be a good starting point.

I used CRC (Sta-Lube) assembly lube for my rebuild (www.crcindustries.com). Worked fine.

I have used both Federal Mogul lube and ARP assembly paste.

Federal Mogul is the same company that makes most of the engine bearings.

Clean the oil pump mating surfaces and bolt holes thoroughly with contact cleaner or laquer thinner. Assemble the oil pump dry, or you will have oil mix with the loctite and cause a leak. Everything must be absolutely sanitary, and without any residues. Mineral spirits and brake cleaner are not good enough for loctite to bond. BTDT. I have mineral spirits in my parts cleaner, which is a good start, but not clean enough for final assembly. Removing the oil pan twice has firmly cemented in my thick skull how important this is.
