Is backspacing the same on '86 turbo and '86 N/A or was the turbo backspacing different?

If you mean offset (wheels), they're the same.

it depends on the width. For the same offset a wheel that's 1/2 inch wider has an extra 6.35mm (half of 1/2 inch) backspacing.

And I can't recall if there is a width difference!

There was a width difference, but if the question is "are the wheels interchangeable?" then yes. All pre-'87 wheels can be swapped and all post '87 can also. The trouble comes putting post '87 wheels on a pre -'87 car or vice versa.
