Default CLUTCH JUDDER IN FIRST GEAR

HI ALL,
I'VE RECENTLY HAD A NEW SPEC STAGE 2 CLUTCH FITTED TO MY CAR. THERE IS A JUDDER IN FIRST GEAR WHEN TAKING OFF BUT IS FINE OTHERWISE WHEN GOING UP THE GEARS, THERE IS ALSO A SLIGHT JUDDER IN ALL GEARS WHEN CHANGING DOWN........ANYBODY GOT IDEAS ON WHAT THE PROBLEM COULD BE AND HOW TO REMEDY IT? THANKS...

EVERYTHING WAS FINE WITH THE OLD STANDARD CLUTCH PRIOR TO FITTING THE NEW SPEC ONE . I ONLY CHANGED IT FOR THE SPEC SO IT WOULD HANDLE THE EXTRA TORQUE AND HP.... I DONT KNOW IF ITS A DUD CLUTCH OR WILL IT BED IN AFTER A WHILE?????????

Hey man,

The clutch is just fine don't worry. The problem with the judder is because it is a pucked clutch. The first gear judder i don't think you can fix but when down shifting if you give the car a little gas, almost like double clutching it will not judder. I know this because when riding in ted wrights car with his 6 puck state 2 clutch it will judder a little in first, not terribly, but if you down shift with out giving it a little gas it will shake the whole car. I do not think it is any thing to get stressed over though.

Cheers
-Ian

Did you have the flywheel surfaced? Also, they recommend with the spec stage 2 to do 500 easy, stop and go miles before applying full throttle to bed in the clutch.

Another wierd thing that can happen during clutch changes is the one of both of the exhaust hangers could be loose. The S2 I had, had a serious shudder when downshifting into 2nd without rev matching. Turned out that the (2) hangers were detached and it was the exhuast causing the shudder/vibration. After reattaching the hangers, it was as good as new.

Just one more thing to check.

The most important question is....

Where is the dyno sheet, man? With a name like that, you gotta show the sheet.

I have the stage 3 copper metallic 6 puck, actually. You NEED to rev match when you are down shifting or you get major chattering. It wasn't a big deal for me, because I always rev match anyways. (Even on the street, just give the gas a little blip.) Starting off will take a bit to get used to. Think of if more of OFF/ON than a regular clutch. Just rev it a little higher, and be very gentle with the clutch. You WILL get used to it!

just got it back. WOW is there chatter when i start going in first gear. i find the best thing to do is slip the clutch as little as possible. get a little grab then give it some good gas to get through it quickly.

but DAMN that lightweight clutch and lightweight flywheel ROCK!
