Has there been a 4-dr sedan that U thought can take 951's place?

Very easy choice for me. C32 AMG w/Renntech or Evosport kit, and a few mods (420hp).

Why I'd choose it to replace the 951.

- Cheap compared to other guys (S4, M3, etc).
- Fairly cheap to mod (tied with S4 for mod cheapness)
- Seats everyone comfortable. Very comfy suspension, yet can still push hard at the track
- Endless torque everywhere.

Fits in perfectly with most 951 owners. Best bang for the buck!

You can get an EVO 7 or 8 - yes they do an auto version. Look out for the GTA.

I vote for the S4, yeah that’s it…a red one, maybe a 2000, with the winter package…yeah that’s it…

I picked up the S4 a couple of years ago for the wife to drive. Sold a 328 w sport package to get it. The S4 is a very civilized drive that really goes when you ask it to. I took it out on the track a couple of times last year – I still remember the look on my friends face as the S4 gradually left his 930 behind!

I like the bigger sedans...

The 94 Mercedes E500 is one of my dream cars, plus it was partially assembled in an ex-Porsche factory. Just looks so stealthy - nowhere near 951S quick I gues

Then the E39 M5 is next - in dark blue metallic, tan leather, wood trim and 400hp

I got a ride in my friend's C55 (the W203), and that sure is a nice car! Powerful, looks good and boy it sounds amazing!!!

yes.. I'm partial to the V8 engines.

I know that I am out here in left field and all and this car doesn’t exactly fit what you are looking for. Please don’t hate me. However, try out the new GTO. Off the show room floor it will out accelerate most of what we’ve talked about (stopping is another story), you’ll have a warranty, toys, room, and own the onramps. You will have to give up some in the corners but you’ll gain it back during the straights. (The first 600 miles break it in properly or you will have high oil consumption down the road)

Gents, thanks for all of the suggestions. I will have to give some serious consideration in what to do. My 951S is coming up on 40K miles so I know I can hang on to it for a while if I choose......I will spend some time researching the models suggested, esp. the S4, 5 series, MB which has piqued my interest. I guess the German lean in the suggestions is not surprising... I also must admit, 951 is my first force induction car and it is really fun.

Hi Kevin....I also do the 66 commute and I have seen that 944!! I was in my beater Mystique (Mondeo for you Euro types). I met you at one of the "fun runs" last summer in my TRBO-S. Hope your work at IMA is going well.

Keep in mind there are a lot more used Audi S4s out there to cose from as compared to say the C32AMG, which I agree is a super automobile, so it would affect the price.

Weird, I see more C32's for sale than S4's. C32's (as with all benz's) have horrible resale value, so it's a great deal to pick up a 02 or 03 for pretty cheap. Especially with the new C55 replacement, nobody wants the supercharged 6, even though it's cheaper to mod than the V8 in the C55.

Snellman - you don't want that. The novelty wears off REAL quick. Have you driven one of those? Even cruising around slowly waving at people they are annoying. They don't go, they don't stop, they don't turn - standing still they are cool.

Just saw the bottom where you owned one. I guess you are a masochist.

Back in the '50's these Chevys were advertised as a best handling domestic car.....
Also it was the first US car with 1 hp/ cid (fuel injected version)

2+2 here is one more for you. The Volvo S60 R offers a five-cylinder 2.5-liter turbocharged engine that produces 300 hp 5,500 rpm (manual) or 6,000 rpm (automatic). My wife drives a V70 T5 (wagon, good for the dog and cargo space) with a five-cyllinder 2.3-liter engine that produces 247 hp. She even complains a little when we get loaners or rental cars that are "slow"... and she is by no means a car person.

I agree with you on the C32 but how many C32 AMG's? Also up here in Canada there aren't as many S4's but they seem to be more common in the states. Maybe I haven't been looking in the right places.
