Will the ac clutch work if the coil has a short.
I blow the fuse the instant the ac is turned on.
Today I put 12V straight to the AC clutch and it works. I thought that they would not work at all if shorted, but now i wonder. The wire did get hot fast though, so I kindof thought it may be bad but semi working.
If its not the clutch what else could it be ?????
Also I have a good 86.5 clutch coil. Anybody know if its the same as a 87 951. The compressor looks identical, except for the hose fittings on top.

Clutch coil should be the same...it is pre 85.5 you have to worry about.
If in doubt replace it...not fun but you can get the tools free from autozone.
It can also burn out your AC control unit so be careful!!
