ok so.. I've been posting up my problems (NO OIL PRESSURE), and you guys have very kindly been telling me your advice/related problems.
1984 944 160,000miles
car is perfectly fine, then I take out the DME to change the Fuel Quality Switch.
Start the car and I have NO OIL PRESSURE and a wierd clicking/gear grinding sound. (yes... lots of oil in the system)
I torqued the crank pulley to 150 ft-lbs (it too abut a 1/2 turn to do so).
I started the car... no more gear grinding sound... but still no oil pressure. (and can hear the lifters clicking)
tonight I removed the oil filter... a fair bit of oil dripped out of the filter when I removed it.
MY QUESTION:
is it worth "priming" the oil pump and putting on a new filter?
I understand that it is possible that my OPRV has failed - how do I check that. or else the oil pickup tube has broken/fallen off. OR my oil pump has failed.
anyways... any opinions???
obviously I dont want to do any more work than I have to (as in pull the motor to drop the oil pan and check out the oil pump/pickup).
thanks all!
Colin

Might as well pull the OPRV...
Then you can crank the engine and see if oil pours out of the hole. If not, then you have narrowed down the problem.
I wouldn't expect re-priming the system to do anything...why would it lose its prime in the first place?
