Default Autothority MAF Install-- What else?

I was considering purchasing an autothority hotwire system from someone, and I was wondering what else I need. The kit is complete with chips, sensor, couplers, tubes, wires, and hard pipe.

Am I going to need to purchase items such as a 3.0 Bar FPR or larger injectors? The MAF is quite a power increase so I'm suspecting I do.

Thanks!
Evan

No, the ape maf is plug and play. It it is designed to run with the stock fpr and injectors. You will run plenty rich without touching those, lol.

I had one and just sold it for the vitesse stage II. The ape makes a great upgrade on a stock car.

Nah you need the Huntley setup with the ARC2 controller. That way you control the fuel.

Helstrm, you still haven't sold that? For that price, it should have been gone a while ago.

The ape maf has the fuel enrichment ****, I just can't remember what it's called right now.

Yeah. Those that want it don't have the money and those that have the money don't want the monster BOV.

I am in no hurry, I am sure it will sell. For the money it is a steal.

I was going to ask what kind of results people have had with the autothority as well. People seem to indicate that it's worth the money, but I've heard of quantitative figures for power and speed all over the place. What is this kit by itself on a stock car good for?

Well the biggest difference is that the boost is cranked to 15psi with the banjo bolt and new chips. The maf makes the turbo spool a lot faster, and throttle response seems better. As far as numbers, I think ape claims a 70hp gain at the wheels, which I may or may not believe. You will be happy with it, though.

I have the APE MAF with stage II chips. With that and a test pipe I dynoed at 240rwhp and 276lb-ft. Considering stock is about 180rwhp, that's about an average gain.

On a stock car K26, the MAF does not make huge performance gains. Yes you do get quicker spoolup and better response. You compare a K26 with chips and a K26 with MAF at the same boost level, there is not a huge difference. Now you go to a larger turbo, and a properly sized/tuned MAF makes a HUGE difference.

Agreed. Unless you are planning to go to a bigger turbo later, it's not worth the money for a MAF when chips and a test pipe will get you 90% of the performance.

Daniel, the MAF changes the car quite a bit. Not everything is about RWHP. The spool up and response characteristics that a MAF offers are more than enough reasons to shell out the $$ for them. Yes, even on the stock turbo.

I have some stage2 Euro chips with shims and a boost enhancer for sale. Claims a 50hp gain.

That's a personal choice. If you want to spend an additional $700 for a 10% improvement go ahead. It certainally is not the best improvement/cost mod available.
